Designed in conjunction with Louis Morales, M.D.
Porex Surgical Inc. has expanded its line of anatomical malar shapes.
The overall design of the MEDPORŽ Design M Malar Shape mimics
the lazy "S" curve of the malar bone. These shapes are designed
specifically to contour over the malar bone starting from the zygomatic
arch, proceeding over the malar prominence and extending down to
the maxillary buttress. The implant should lay directly below the
infraorbital nerve.
The selection of three sizes allows the surgeon to select the appropriate
projection for malar augmentation. The design permits easy insertion
through an intraoral route. The shape can either be maintained in
a tight subperiosteal pocket, or fixated using a lag screw technique.
Minor feathering of the implant may be necessary to achieve the
best result.
For most cosmetic procedures, the small and medium sizes will be
sufficient for redistribution and suspension of soft tissue. For
traumatic reconstruction of the zygoma, the large size may be more
appropriate for restoration of missing soft tissue volume.
Each malar shape is packaged STERILE and sold individually. Sizer set available.
