"The MEDPORŽ Pterional Implant A Neurosurgical Approach" (2001)

The MEDPOR Pterional Implant, developed with Dr. Murali Guthikonda of the Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University, was designed specifically to fill the hollow resulting after a pterional craniotomy during neurosurgical procedures. Originally, Dr. Guthikonda used the MEDPOR TF Implant for this application, (but felt that a smaller, more appropriately contoured implant would require less intraoperative sculpting and be easier and faster to utilize during the closing stages of his procedures. The new Pterional Implant is smaller and is indicated to aid in correction of temporal hollowing in patients who have had surgery involving the pterional approach to the cranium, including pterional craniotomy.
